Recently, countries such as Germany, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia have issued new customs regulations! Please conduct self inspection as soon as possible for the cargo owners and freight forwarders who export to relevant ports and countries to ensure compliance with customs requirements.
German Customs HS Code Requirements
Recently, German customs required that there must be a 6-digit or no less than 4-digit HS code in the cargo manifest! Otherwise, the goods will be detained by customs!
At present, Maersk Shipping has taken the lead in issuing a notice. Starting from October 16th, it is required that goods exported to Germany or transferred to German ports must provide their respective HS codes! If not provided, the shipper's shipping instructions will not be processed! If complete and accurate shipping instructions are not submitted within the specified time, it is highly likely that the goods will not be able to board the ship!
In fact, other shipping companies also have relevant regulations. Therefore, if the goods exported to Germany or transit through German ports are not provided with HS codes, please provide them as soon as possible to avoid customs withholding or delayed shipment, which may cause unnecessary losses.

New Saudi Customs Regulations
According to the requirements of Saudi Customs, from now on, all bills of lading for goods arriving in Saudi Arabia must display the following information after the consignee's address:
(1) Consignee Importer Number
(2) Consignee CR Number
(3) Consignee Mobile Number
If the recipient is "To Order" or "To Order of Bank", the above three numbers must be displayed after the notifying party's address.
Consignee CR Number is the abbreviation for Consignee Customs Registration Number, which refers to the registration number processed by the consignee of import and export goods at the customs. According to customs regulations, "All shipments should have an Importer/Exporter Customs Registration Number." This is a requirement for import and export companies to register at customs, not an HS code.
The consignee's customs registration code requires the foreign trade operator to request it from the customer and explain the customs regulations to avoid customer misunderstandings.
In addition, all bills of lading to Saudi Arabia do not accept the following situations:
(1) The consignee or notifier is not an Arab company or individual;
(2) The bill of lading shows that the goods will be transported by land to countries outside Saudi Arabia.
The main ports involved in this regulation are JEDDAH Jeddah Port, DAMMAM Dammam, and RIYADH Riyadh.
